Durham County Government will delay the opening of non-essential offices until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. The delayed opening follows a winter weather storm over the weekend causing inclement conditions for the Triangle (Durham-Chapel Hill-Raleigh) area.
Warmer temperatures have enabled many areas throughout Durham to thaw out, however, black ice may be a reality in the morning as temperatures drop below freezing overnight. The 11:00 a.m. opening today will allow additional time for melting of snow and ice and provide for safer travel conditions for Durham County employees and patrons.
The County will also use the delayed opening time to prepare parking lots and passage ways for safe navigation.
