Dangerous dogs

If you observe a dangerous dog that attacks, bites or chases people, leashed dogs or other animals, call 911.

Barking dog complaints are handled by the Durham Police. Call the non-emergency line, 919-560-4600, to report a dog whose barking non-stop at all hours of the day is a nuisance. Keeping a log of the amount of time the dog is barking as well as the times and days, will help the police with the case.

Dog poop

Lastly, don’t forget to bring along some trash bags when you walk your dog. Cleaning up dog poop is not only important for sanitary reasons, but it’s mandated by city litter laws.
