Durham County Government will close most offices in recognition of the Veterans Day holiday on Friday, November 10, 2023. All offices will reopen with their normal hours of operation on Monday, November 13.
Durham County General Services Convenience Sites
The Durham County General Services Department will close all three of its solid waste and recycling convenience sites on Saturday, November 11. Durham County residents with a current 2023-2024 solid waste decal can resume disposal of garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky items at the County’s convenience sites on Monday, November 13 under normal hours of operation.
Roadside Recycling
The Durham County roadside recycling schedule for customers normally serviced the week of November 10 will not be affected. All residents are reminded to set out their recycling bins by 6 a.m. on the day of pickup, to avoid a missed collection. Residents who want to keep track of their recycling collection schedule should download the “Durham County Recycles” mobile application. Residents can download the mobile app for free on Apple devices in the App Store or Android devices in the Google Play Store.
Durham County Library
Durham County Library locations will be closed on Friday, November 10 in recognition of the Veterans Day holiday and will return to normal operating hours on Saturday, November 11.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the many online services provided through the Durham County Library by visiting www.durhamcountylibrary.org.
Durham County Public Health
The Durham County Department of Public Health (DCoDPH) will follow the Durham County Government Veterans Day holiday closing schedule on Friday, November 10.
For Public Health emergencies during the holiday closure, including communicable disease reporting, environmental health and suspected foodborne illnesses, please call 911 and ask for the Durham County Department of Public Health’s response team member on-call.
All DCoDPH offices will reopen with normal hours on Monday, November 13.
